Why AskCalculators exists

A number is only useful when you understand where it came from. We keep the inputs, method, and limits close to the result so you can check the answer and decide whether it fits your situation.

What a calculator should give you

Each calculator should clearly state what it needs, what it returns, how it works, and which formula it uses. Examples, notes, and important limits stay on the same page.

Save the exact calculation

Supported values can be kept in the page address. Bookmark the calculation, return to it later, or share the same starting values with someone else. Avoid putting sensitive information in a shared link.

Reviewed and migrated mean different things

Migrated describes where a calculator came from. It means its page and supporting information were brought over from the previous library.

Reviewed describes its current quality check. It means the inputs, formula, results, optional fields, examples, and bookmark behavior have been checked in the current library.

A calculator can be both migrated and reviewed. A migrated calculator that has not been reviewed stays marked Coming Soon until its interactive calculation is ready.

How a calculator becomes reviewed

We check the formula, default values, edge cases, optional inputs, output labels, examples, bookmark behavior, and supporting notes. Changing rates, rules, or reference values must also show a clear review date or source.

Our promise

We will tell you what a calculator does, what it assumes, and whether it is ready. When a result depends on personal circumstances or changing rules, we will say so.
