Privacy policy
Calculations run in your browser. AskCalculators has no application server, account system, hosted calculator database or automatic cross-device synchronization. It does use a browser-local database.
What is stored on this device
The askcalculators IndexedDB database stores projects, drafts, successful calculation history, scenarios, snapshots, reports and settings. Some drafts are also cached in session storage. Local storage holds the theme, history and retention preferences, a recent-project reference and the optional Legacy/Data grid view preference. Local counters record event names, counts, dates and calculator/workflow identifiers, not entered values, result values or project names. They are not transmitted as site-wide analytics.
The workflow Data grid links to a full calculator page under the site’s frame-denial policy. Both views use the same browser-local project records; opening a workflow step does not create a hosted project or a new account.
Your choices and retention
Data and privacy lets you inspect counts, export or import a backup, select 7, 30 or 90 days of automatic history retention, turn off automatic history, and delete history or all site data. Expiry is applied when the application runs; it is not a background deletion service. Disabling history alone does not disable drafts. Intentional projects, saved scenarios, workflow evidence and reports remain until you delete them.
The “Do not save this session” switch on a calculator pauses newly initiated drafts, history, local counters, scenario saves, workflow-step saves and automatic URL updates for this tab. It stores only that preference in session storage. It does not erase records already saved or a write already submitted to the browser, and it is not an incognito browser. Explicit exports and copied links remain available. The preference may not survive navigation when browser storage is denied.
Links are not secret storage
Portable links can put inputs in URL query parameters. Requested URLs may reach hosting logs, browser history, bookmarks, messages and previews. The fragment-link option keeps state after #, which is not normally sent in an HTTP request, but page scripts and recipients can read it. Neither format is encrypted, access-controlled or revocable. No personalized social-preview server exists. Do not share financial, health or identifying values unintentionally.
Backups, reports and deletion
Workflow PDFs include a locally generated QR. By default it opens only the workflow page. Selecting “This saved workflow” deliberately embeds the project name, saved inputs and results, formula versions, saved times, capture time and template in a compressed URL fragment. This also includes inputs omitted visually by the Summary template. Anyone with the link or PDF can read that snapshot. It is not encrypted, authenticated, live or revocable. Receiving it previews the data without automatically saving a project; an explicit action saves a separate local copy. No third-party QR service or short-link database receives the data. Large snapshots require a project file instead.
PDF, CSV, JSON and project files are generated locally. Files can contain sensitive values. Deletion on this site affects this browser's application data, not copies in Downloads, another browser/device, shared messages, hosting logs or backups. Clearing automatic history removes its automatic snapshot copies; deliberately saved workflow evidence and reports are separate. Browser eviction, a cleared profile or device loss can remove local data. Export important work and store it safely.
Hosting and outside services
Your hosting/security provider can receive normal request metadata such as IP address, URL, user agent, time and security signals. Browser-local does not mean invisible to scripts running on the same origin. Analytics and lead providers are disabled in the supplied configuration. An operator may activate only the declared, validated integrations described below. There is no embedded payment SDK or hosted AI script. When checkout is enabled, an ordinary link opens a Stripe-hosted payment page; no Stripe script executes in the calculator workspace. Optional commercial links are ordinary disclosed external links, not embedded trackers. When an enabled link takes you to a payment provider, affiliate destination or sponsor, that provider's terms and privacy policy apply; calculator values are not attached by this application.
The application does not set cookies. A hosting/security provider may process technical data separately. Before enabling any new provider, the operator must verify its data flow, applicable consent requirements and this policy. Checkout stays disabled until a real Stripe Payment Link, seller details and approved terms are configured. Stripe collects purchaser and payment information on its own hosted page. The seller uses the purchase email and payment record to verify payment, deliver the files and handle support/refunds. These records are separate from calculator inputs. A return-page visit is not payment verification.
Construction Planning Pack
The downloadable pack runs locally without browser storage, telemetry or network requests. Unsaved project data exists in page memory; .acplan, CSV and printed PDF files are created only when you export them. It does not open the website's IndexedDB database or upload client information. Closing the page loses unsaved changes. Downloaded files and manually emailed order records have separate retention and deletion responsibilities.
Stripe purchase information
Payment details are entered on Stripe, not in this static website. Purchase email, payment status and applicable billing information are available to the seller for fulfillment and support. Do not include calculator inputs in a checkout link, payment reference or support message. Stripe and hosting providers process technical request data under their own policies. The seller must determine applicable retention, tax and privacy obligations for the actual business.
Contact and corrections
Use the contact page for privacy or correction requests. Do not send private calculator inputs unless necessary and explicitly agreed. This disclosure describes the application; it does not certify legal compliance of an unknown hosting configuration.
Controller and scope
The intended publisher is a Dublin, Ireland company. Its verified legal name, CRO number, street address and contact details must be supplied on the company page before lead collection is enabled. This notice is a technical disclosure and policy draft, not a claim that those missing facts or the legal review have been completed.
Email, phone leads and lawful basis
When enabled, a separate unchecked consent box authorizes email-list messages under consent (GDPR Article 6(1)(a)). An external Formspree form submits the email directly to the form provider for the publisher’s own list. Calculator inputs are not attached. Email-list consent does not authorize an installer phone call. Users must be able to withdraw email consent through the contact details or unsubscribe mechanism supplied by the operator.
Phone requests are optional and use the named buyer’s hosted form. Loading that form contacts the buyer and can disclose request metadata, including an IP address. An explicit button loads it only after the disclosure. Contact details and any consent certificate go directly to the buyer and participating installers, not to a site-owned application server. Consent is the intended basis for this optional lead sharing; final controller roles, recipient names, retention periods, international-transfer safeguards and withdrawal instructions require the buyer agreement and legal review before activation. No blanket transfer of the publisher’s email list to an installer is authorized.
Country preference cookie
The country picker asks when there is no valid askcalculators_country cookie. United States is the default; no IP lookup or location request is used. Only confirming a choice stores the code us, ca, uk or ie in a first-party, site-wide preference cookie for 365 days. It uses SameSite=Lax and Secure on HTTPS. Like other first-party cookies, it is sent with matching requests to this site's hosting provider. It contains no calculator inputs, contact details or unique visitor identifier and is not used for advertising. Closing the picker does not save a choice. With cookies blocked, a selection works on the current page only and the site asks again on a later page. Clear the preference in Data and privacy or your browser's site-data settings. The tab's calculation no-save switch controls calculation storage, not a separately confirmed country preference.
Analytics
When enabled, the declared Plausible or Umami script processes analytics under its configured provider arrangement. The operator must assess consent and disclose the actual configuration before enabling it. Analytics remains disabled in the supplied configuration.
Privacy choices and California notice
California residents may have rights to know, access, correct and delete personal information and to opt out of its sale or sharing, subject to the applicable law and the publisher’s circumstances. Lead disclosure to an installer may require a sale/sharing assessment; this site does not label such a transfer exempt without review. Lead collection is disabled until the operator has implemented applicable notices, request handling and opt-out requirements, including the handling of recognized preference signals where required. No personal lead information is sold or shared by the disabled default configuration.
Rights and complaints
Where GDPR applies, users may request access, correction, erasure, restriction or portability where applicable and may withdraw consent without affecting earlier lawful processing. Use the verified controller contact once supplied, or the site contact page for a disclosure correction. A complaint may be made to the relevant supervisory authority, including Ireland’s Data Protection Commission. A request to this website does not delete a buyer’s independently held records; the final notice must identify the appropriate buyer contact.
