“Good to Know”
- Base 60: Our modern time system is based on the number 60 (sexagesimal), an ancient system inherited from the Sumerians and Babylonians.
- Simple Math:
- To get seconds: Multiply minutes by 60.
- To get hours: Divide minutes by 60.
- Decimal Hours: Remember that
1.5 hoursis NOT “1 hour and 5 minutes.” It is “1 hour and 30 minutes” (half an hour).
