“Good to Know”

• The Cycle: A full lunar cycle (synodic month) lasts approximately 29.53 days.
• The Phases:
  • Waxing: The moon is getting “larger” (dark to full).
  • Waning: The moon is getting “smaller” (full back to dark).
  • Gibbous: More than half illuminated but not fully.
  • Crescent: Less than half illuminated.
• Gardening Tip: Many traditional gardening practices suggest planting above-ground crops during a waxing moon and root crops during a waning moon.
