Find the best skateboard deck width based on your shoe size
Description
The Skateboard Size Calculator is a fundamental tool for beginners and experienced skaters looking for a new setup. In skateboarding, the width of the deck is the most important measurement for stability and control. If the board is too narrow, you’ll feel unstable; if it’s too wide, it will be heavy and harder to “flip.” This tool uses your Shoe Size as the primary factor to recommend a deck width that provides the best balance of foot coverage and maneuverability.
Inputs
- Shoe Size (US Men): Your standard men’s shoe size.
Outputs
- Recommended Deck Width: The suggested width range in inches.
Chart
- N/A: This tool provides a categorical equipment result.
“Good to Know”
- Style Matters: While shoe size is the base, your skating style also affects your choice:
- Tech/Street Skating: Often prefer narrower boards (7.75” - 8.25”) for easier flips.
- Pool/Transition/Vert: Often prefer wider boards (8.5” and up) for maximum stability.
- Standard Ranges:
- Size 6.5 - 9: 7.5” to 8.0” wide.
- Size 9.5 and up: 8.0” to 8.5” and above.
- Children: Kids with very small shoe sizes should look for “Mini” or “Micro” decks (approx 7.0” to 7.25”).
