Calculate weekly working hours and total pay with break deductions

Description

The Time Card Calculator is a professional productivity tool for employees and small business owners. Managing a weekly schedule with varying start times, end times, and break durations can be tedious. This tool allows you to enter your In and Out times for a 5-day work week, specify a Break duration for each day, and enter your Hourly Rate to see a complete summary of your hours and estimated gross earnings.

Inputs

  • In / Out Times: Your daily start and end times (using a standard clock picker).
  • Break (m): The number of minutes for unpaid breaks each day.
  • Hourly Rate ($): Your gross wage per hour.

Outputs

  • Total Pay: The estimated gross earnings for the week.
  • Total Hours: The cumulative hours worked (formatted to 2 decimal places).

Chart

  • N/A: This tool provides precision numeric financial results.

“Good to Know”

  • Overnight Shifts: This calculator is “smart”—if your “Out” time is earlier than your “In” time (e.g., In 10 PM, Out 6 AM), it automatically recognizes that you worked through the night and calculates the hours correctly.
  • Gross vs. Net: The “Total Pay” shown is Gross Pay (before taxes and deductions). Your final paycheck will be lower after withholdings.
  • Precision: Calculations are done in total minutes and converted to decimal hours (e.g., 30 minutes = 0.5 hours) to ensure accuracy to the penny.
