Calculate your daily hours worked and earnings
Description
The Work Hours Calculator is a quick-use productivity tool for employees and contractors. While the “Time Card” tool tracks a full week, this tool is optimized for a single shift. By entering your Start Time, End Time, and Unpaid Break, you can instantly see the total hours worked and, by adding your Hourly Rate, see your gross earnings for that day.
Inputs
- Start Time: When you clocked in.
- End Time: When you clocked out.
- Unpaid Break (minutes): The duration of your lunch or other unpaid breaks.
- Hourly Rate ($): Your gross wage per hour.
Outputs
- Total Pay: Your gross earnings for the shift.
- Hours Worked: The total decimal hours after subtracting the break.
Chart
- N/A: This tool provides precision numeric financial results.
“Good to Know”
- Overnight Shifts: This tool supports shifts that cross midnight. If you start at 10:00 PM and end at 06:00 AM, it correctly identifies an 8-hour shift.
- Decimal Hours: Hours are displayed in decimal format (e.g., 7.5 hours for 7 hours and 30 minutes) to make it easy to verify against payroll systems.
- Tax Note: The “Total Pay” is your Gross Income before any taxes, insurance, or union dues are deducted.
