Determine the corect ski length based on your height and skill level

Description

The Ski Size Calculator is an essential equipment guide for alpine skiers. Choosing the right ski length is the difference between having control on the mountain and struggling with “wandering” skis. This tool uses the standard “Chin-to-Forehead” rule, taking your Height and Skill Level to recommend a length. Shorter skis are easier to turn (good for beginners), while longer skis provide more stability at high speeds (good for experts).

Inputs

  • Height (cm): Your total height.
  • Skill Level: Choose Beginner, Intermediate, or Advanced.

Outputs

  • Recommended Ski Length: The suggested size in cm.

Chart

  • N/A: This tool provides a direct numeric equipment result.

“Good to Know”

  • The “Body Part” Rule:
    • Beginner: Skis should reach your Chin (Height - 15cm).
    • Intermediate: Skis should reach your Nose (Height - 10cm).
    • Advanced: Skis should reach your Forehead (Height - 5cm).
  • Weight Factor: If you are significantly heavier than average for your height, you may want to move up one size (e.g., from an Intermediate recommendation to an Advanced one) to provide more support.
  • Terrain: If you mostly ski fast, groomed runs, go longer. If you prefer tight trees or moguls, go shorter.
