Determine the ideal snowboard length based on weight and height
Description
The Snowboard Size Calculator is a gear-selection tool for riders of all levels. Unlike skis, which are heavily influenced by height, a snowboard’s performance is primarily driven by the rider’s weight. The weight determines how much the board flexes and how it handles on the snow. This tool uses a weight-based formula corroborated against common “Chin-to-Nose” height checks to provide a balanced recommendation for a standard “All-Mountain” snowboard.
Inputs
- Height (cm): Your total height.
- Weight (kg): Your body weight (the most critical factor).
Outputs
- Recommended Snowboard Length: The suggested size in cm.
Chart
- N/A: This tool provides a direct numeric equipment result.
“Good to Know”
- Weight vs. Height: If you are tall but very light, you should generally lean toward a shorter board. If you are shorter but heavier, you need a slightly longer or stiffer board to prevent it from “washing out” during turns.
- Board Range:
- All-Mountain: Follow the calculator’s recommendation.
- Park/Freestyle: Go 1-2 cm shorter for easier spins and maneuverability.
- Powder: Go 1-2 cm longer (and often wider) for more surface area and float in deep snow.
- Boot Size: If you have a US Men’s size 11 or larger, you should look for “Wide” versions of these lengths to prevent “toe drag.”
